"I Love My Momma" honors the rapper's tender, strict, praying mother.
If elected president, Snoop says he'd legalize marijuana and prostitution ("Dolomite"). No shock since six of these tracks glamorize drugs and/or alcohol (often using street slang such as "blow," "blunts," "weed," "dank" and "chronic"). His overactive libido and disrespect for women also come as no surprise. Explicit raps boast of casual "doggystyle" sex ("B--ch Please"), abusive intercourse ("Doin' Too Much") and always having a condom ready ("Don't Tell"). Raw language ranges from a downpour of f-words to blasphemous uses of God's name. On "Gangsta Ride, "guest rapper Silkk the Shocker claims to follow Jesus right after saying he'd like to score drugs and booze. Nearly a dozen nasty cuts seek to create an intoxicating image of violence. Lines include, "[I'd] smack a b--ch in a second," "I never hesitate to blast," "Make 'em bleed is the motto that I live by/If you f--- with me, it's a must you die" and "Who said killing wasn't no fun?"
That tribute to mom aside, Top Dogg is nearly 80 minutes of indefensible trash. Drugs. Liquor. Obscenities. Perverse, misogynistic sex. Believe it or not, Snoop has been honored for his "artistry" by MTV, Rolling Stone and others. Help teens see him for what he is.
